I'm still figuring out how to make this page look nice...bear with me while I continue to learn! Here are a few more pictures of our Thanksgiving vacation. In both sets of pictures A is wearing red and the pink striped sweater while C is wearing the pink jogging suit. They're both wearing the turkey shirts. :)

Thanksgiving
My apologies for not blogging in over a month! So much has been going on since our last post...two vacations, I (Jen) was in Denver for a few days, not to mention all the normal "stuff" that takes up our time. But here we are with a new post.
We spent the week of Thanksgiving at a cabin in the Smoky Mountains. It was actually Thanksmas as we also had Christmas with my brother and sister-in-law since they won't be coming home for Christmas (they're having a baby at the beginning of January). The girls, of course, loved the wrapping paper and boxes more than the gifts themselves; however, they have grown to love the talking Elmo doll from Uncle Brian and Aunt Kelly. Boy is that Elmo a talker! Sometimes I make sure he has some quiet time. Thank goodness for shut off buttons!
We really didn't do much on our vacation but it was nice to be away and spend time with family. I think the highlight for the girls was playing with Aunt Kelly's water bottles. It's the small things in life! We managed to have a few games of chase which the girls absolutely love! They haven't quite figured out that they should run from the chaser yet though. But they both laugh hysterically (which is great fun in itself) and have a blast.

So much to do, so little time...
We have been very busy! We got a new chair that plays music when we sit on it. We love to fight over it! A is showing it off in the picture.
Another one of our favorite things to do lately is walk around with blankets on our heads. Mom and Dad thing we're crazy but we think it's absolutely hilarious. A is sporting the red blanket while C has the pink one. C even signs "help please" when her blanket falls off her head and she wants it put back. Speaking of signing, both girls sign "please", "more", "eat", "all finished", and "help" regularly. We're working on signing "drink", "thank you", and "dog" (our favorite animal).
We also went to Shaw Farms to pick out pumpkins. They also had chickens, goats, horses, a donkey, various birds (Mom didn't like that part at all), and rabbit. A especially enjoyed petting the rabbit. We had a great time climbing on the pumpkins and playing in the teepee. And, we still liked each other at the end of day as we held hands on the way home!
We'll try to post more soon but we'll be on vacation next week--we need it after all we've been doing!

Shoes & Books
Few things excite the girls more than shoes and books! Whenever we get ready to leave all I have to say is, "We need to put on our shoes" and the girls come running saying, "shs, shs, shs". They have good taste I must say. We bought them new winter shoes this week which made their day!
They also love to read and spend quite a bit of time just looking at books throughout the day. I'm sure it means that they're very intelligent. :)
Here are a few pictures of them enjoying their favorite things. A is wearing denim overalls and C is wearing pink overalls.

Not off to a good start...
So, it's been almost a month and I'm just now adding another post. Hopefully, I'll get better at this. This week we had a hurricane. Yes, we still live in Ohio and yes, we felt the effects of Ike's wrath once that storm left Texas. Fortunately we didn't get any rain but we did have "hurricane force winds". Our power was out for less than 12 hours but others in our town still don't have power 4 days after the storm. I had no idea it was coming. I just knew it was windy. Before the power went out I checked the weather online which said there was a high wind warning. I think that's an extremely silly term because anyone could tell that it was quite windy. Anyway, the girls slept through most of it since it was nap time. Jamie and I went outside periodically (I know, not the smartest thing in the world) to watch things blow around.
We made the best of it. Our friends came over, we grilled our dinner, put the kids to bed, and played cards outside with our Coleman lantern. We lost several shingles on our roof so it will need to be replaced. Other than that we just had several tree limbs that ended up in our yard. Needless to say, Monday was spent cleaning up the yard--see the photos of the girls "helping"--and our neighbor's yard (the other neighbor's tree fell into their yard). I'm so thankful that there wasn't more damage. It could have been a lot worse. Hopefully everyone will have power again soon. I kind of feel bad that ours came back on so quickly.

Baby steps
In an effort to keep everyone updated on what the girls are up to I thought I'd give blogging a try. I'm trying to write everything down as they learn new and exciting things. I wish I were writing them down in the girls' scrapbooks but I haven't started those yet (I'm so behind) so this will have to do for now. I like to think that I have some knowledge of technology but let's be serious...I have no idea what I'm doing. So, as the girls are beginning to take steps on their own I'm stepping into the world of blogging. The girls are still a little wobbly and don't always keep their balance--I feel the same way. I hope you enjoy watching them grow. They are such a joy everyday (even when they're fighting with each other!) and I hope they bring a smile to your face and brighten you day just as they do mine.
